Understanding Chin Implants
Chin implants are solid, biocompatible devices—most commonly medical-grade silicone—placed along the front of the jaw to enhance chin projection and jawline definition. They come in a range of sizes and shapes, including extended/pre-jowl designs. During consultation, facial proportions and bite relationship are assessed to select an implant that harmonizes with the nose, lips, and neck.
In a balanced profile, the chin’s most forward point often aligns near the lower lip in men and sits slightly behind in women, though ideals vary with facial structure and personal preference. A recessed chin may be hereditary, related to skeletal positioning, or become more noticeable with age as soft tissues descend.
Chin augmentation is frequently combined with complementary procedures—such as rhinoplasty, facelift/neck lift, or targeted neck contouring—and, in select cases, buccal fat reduction—to achieve total facial balance.
How Chin Implants Help
Strengthens a recessed chin for a more confident profile.
Refines the jawline and under-chin angle for cleaner definition.
Helps submental fullness look less prominent by improving skeletal support (not a fat-removal treatment).
Balances facial proportions—harmonizing with the nose, lips, and neck
